The city has a commercial port, what makes products, in this case cocoa, be transported easily to other regions of the country and the world, practically from its crop’s origin location.

Among tourist attractions, you can visit Museo del Petróleo, Ciénaga San Silvestre, Río Magdalena, Cristo Petrolero, and Guillermo Gaviria Correa bridge, which links Santander and Antioquia Departments.

As part of the actions that local government and diverse public and private local entities take to foster the economic development of the region, the project “Mountain Chocolat” was developed. The objective is to boost cocoa industry at an international level and improve living conditions of local people involved in the production.

The latter provides the opportunity of bringing a business mission to this Colombian municipality, with the participation of up to 10 buyers of boutique companies that work with chocolate and need to buy this raw material. These buyers come from the largest cocoa consumption market in the Americas: United States.
