Mónica Restrepo, general manager of Bodas ABC (Association of Bridal Consultants) for Latin America, sent a decisive message that in 2022 it’s time to celebrate love to the max and not put things off, as far as the pandemic allows.
“I tell people in the world of weddings—from providers, organizers and even brides and grooms—that they should celebrate in style in 2022. This pandemic has shown us not to skimp. It’s time to celebrate and appreciate love as it should be done,” she said.
Bodas ABC LATAM has 250 members in Mexico and Latin America, while its parent organization has more than 4,000 members in 32 countries.
Trends and changes in the romance segment
Contrary to what you might think, in the romance sector the pandemic has increased interest in “saying yes” and commemorating these long dreamed of moments.
“Evidently since the end of 2020 and throughout 2021 there has been an increase in the number of people who have decided to marry in more intimate groups, inviting the people who really matter to them and not those one invites simply out of obligation,” added Ms. Restrepo, who has 21 years’ experience in the wedding business.
The trend towards destination weddings has increased as couples seek unique, unconventional experiences for 50 or 60 people, creating a closed and safe group to reduce risk of contagion.
Throughout the meetings industry, technology now facilitates sending digital invitations and offering real-time transmissions so that those who cannot attend the event can enjoy it. Another fundamental aspect that is now more relevant are the social, economic and ecological aspects of sustainability.
Forever Wedding Summit 2022 will be celebrated for the first time in Mexico
The Forever Wedding Summit has been celebrated since 2016 in Colombia; for the first time in 2022 it will shift to Mexico, in the city of Querétaro, where it expects to host about 300 people from June 20-22.
“Our goal is to share quality content and to support those who are getting started in the weddings industry as well as those with experience who want to better position themselves,” concluded the general manager of Bodas ABC LATAM.
Boris Iraheta, marketing manager for Corsatur, stated that El Salvador is ready to host international events.
