Guatemala, August 3rd, 2021. The associations that conform Guatemala’s Organized Private
Tourism Sector Crisis Committee is pleased to announce that since July, the frontline tourism
workers have priority for vaccination against COVID-19.

This action is in addition to the implementation of biosafety measures and observation of good
practices in the prevention of COVID-19, through the Safe Travels of the WTTC and INGUAT
Biosafety seals, as well as the individual protocols that observe the service providers. This allows
providing safe experiences in controlled environments for international visitors to travel safely and
in an organized way to Guatemala.

Andreas Kuestermann, president of the Sustainable Tourism Commission of the Guatemalan
Association of Exporters and of the Guatemala Conventions Bureau, thanked the authorities of the
Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance for recognizing and prioritizing all frontline workers
of tourism to be prioritized in Phase 3 of the national vaccination plan.
The management and impulse from the private initiative was key to identify the frontline workers,
with the support and accompaniment of the Guatemala Tourism Board (INGUAT).

Vaccination for the tourism sector includes the following lines of business: workers at airports,
hotels, tour operators, travel agencies, restaurants, event and wedding organizers, tour guides, car
rental companies, handicrafts, cultural centers, event decorators, Spanish language schools,
photographers, museums, parks and nature reserves workers.

Rolando Schweikert, president of the Guatemalan Chamber of Tourism, mentioned that “for our
sector mass vaccination and its workers is a priority and we are making rapid progress in the main
tourist destinations. This action is fundamental for the recovery of the confidence of the wholesalers
and travel agencies from around the world to sell tour programs to visit Guatemala to their clients.”
