Houston Is the Best Cityin the United States for Meetings and Events

• Houston connects by plane to more than 20 cities in Mexico and with all Latin American capitals

Jorge Franz, Houston’s vice-president of tourism and president of the Conventions &Visitors Bureau, said during his interview on Coffee Talks that Houston is totally open for the MICE industry.

“This industry will not stop, people want to get together, that will not change and that’s what our industry is for. It’s been difficult but we will move forward. For those looking for a place to get together, Houston is the best option in the United States,” assured Jorge Franz.

The George R. Brown Convention Center continues to confirm more events and meetings, showing great flexibility and commitment to clients.

“The team has been moving groups, postponing to avoid cancellations. The year 2022 is looking very good, we have 30 confirmed groups, recovering from all the business lost during the pandemic,” explained Jorge Franz.

Franz has been in the tourism business for more than 20 years, lending his expertise to the city of Houston in order to accomplish the governor’s goal: to make Texas an indispensable place to conduct business.

“We have the advantage, for businesses wanting to relocate to Texas, of having no state tax. When they come from a company in California or New York, the cost of doing business here is much lower,” Franz pointed out.

Among Houston’s competitive advantages are the complete reactivation of the city’s value-added chain thanks to its “Houston Clean” campaign as well as its daily airline connections with more than 20 Mexican cities and with all Latin American capitals, making the city an important hub.

Despite the pandemic, the number of airline seats sold this year has been 40 percent greater than in 2019, due in large part to the closing of land borders, which will reopen beginning in November for people who have had two vaccination shots.

Latin Americans can meet in Houston without language barriers, since 40 percent of the population speaks Spanish. For more information, visit https://www.holahouston.com/.
