Oct. | 2018. Palace Resorts Foundation is extending an invitation to participate in the 5th Palace Foundation Golf Tournament, which for the fifth year in a row is taking place in conjunction with the Lorena Ochoa Foundation. The activities will take place on Friday, October 19, and Saturday, October 20, 2018, on the gorgeous grounds of the Moon Palace Spa & Golf Club, located on the idyllic shores of Cancun in the Mexican Caribbean.
As it does every year, this friendly tournament benefits the Palace Foundation Foster Home, which helps boys and girls who lack parental care. The benefits also translate into scholarships for the students at “La Barranca” Educational Center, one of the entities receiving support on behalf of Lorena Ochoa and her foundation.
Lorena Ochoa is the guest of honor, and the participants will be able to share a game with the best Mexican golfer of all time while helping Mexico‘s children. As if this weren’t enough, there is an accumulated purse of two million pesos this year.
“It’s an honor for us to count on the support of the Lorena Ochoa Foundation for five consecutive years for this Golf Tournament,” said Jabib Chapur, president of the Palace Foundation, during a press conference that took place this past September 26th.
“Thanks to her support and that of our attendees we can continue offering financial support, so the children of the Foster Home can have a better quality of life while they live there,” added Chapur. “Thanks to these events we can make these children’s dreams come true and little by little raise their quality of life. Both the Palace Foundation and the Lorena Ochoa share the same objective of helping the community.”
This tournament with a cause offers players the chance to share the golf course with Lorena Ochoa, the best Mexican golfer of all times, while contributing to the development of the country’s children.
The per player donation of MXN 5,500 includes a player kit, the welcome dinner with Lorena Ochoa, green fee, an exhibition swing with Lorena Ochoa and a group photo, an awards dinner, raffles, and prizes. Federation players will have the right to a practice round the week before the tournament.
It all starts on Friday, October 19th at 7 p.m. with a welcome dinner with Lorena Ochoa at the Moon Palace Cancun’s Crystal Ballroom; players will register and receive their kits at this time.
The starting shot will go off on Saturday, October 20th at 8:30 a.m. The awards ceremony will take place after the game at 3 p.m.
The game format will be Foursome A Go-Go with handicaps topping off at 60. The accumulated purse of two million pesos will be divided among the top three places in the competition, as well as the best Oh’Yes and Hole in Ones, among others.
There will be a preferred rate for players who want to stay at the Moon Palace Cancun. Event sponsors will receive benefits including spots on the tournament, with or without accommodations, depending on the level of sponsorship.

Note: To participate in the tournament players must present a letter from the HCP federation or a letter from the club they belong to, which needs to be validated by the Mexican Golf Federation (FMG) and the Mexican Caribbean Golf Course Association (ACGCM).
The Palace Resorts Foundation was created in 2004 by the board of directors of the Palace Resorts chain of hotels to give back to the community by attending to and solving social issues. Its objective is to bring hope to the neediest citizens, as well as to the care of the environment and its communities, offering resources, time, and effort. This initiative is an example of the commitment of the Foundation and the hotel brand with its surrounding community.
The idea of the Foster Home is to provide a decent home and care for vulnerable children who do not have a healthy family and/or no longer have a supporting network. This care is the fundamental reason for this and other events created to raise funds. Since 2015, the Home has helped 45 children, some of whom have already been adopted and others who have been able to return to their original families.
The children live in villas and are cared for by trained personnel. They go to school, receive psychological help, education, and healthcare, as well as other formative activities and affection to optimize their development. Materials and equipment that meets the needs of the children will be acquired and maintained thanks to the support of the sponsors and participants.
