The Riviera Nayarit is Mexico’s Pacific Treasure, a world-class luxury destination with a significant focus on services for the Meetings Industry. It comprises more than 23 “micro destinations,” including coastal towns and tourist developments.
The destination has approximately 18,000 rooms, the vast majority of which are four-star and above, and 17,000 m² of meeting and convention facilities. Other outstanding amenities include eight golf courses, three marinas, and a wide range of gastronomic offerings, including four- and five-diamond restaurants.
There are 15 new and developing hotel projects either recently inaugurated or on the horizon in this destination, which has attracted 103,324 million pesos in Foreign Direct Tourism Investment (FDIT) for Nayarit, placing the state at the top of the country’s ranking.
The confidence generated by the destination is evident in the backing of international brands such as Apple Leisure Group, Marriott International, Grupo Vidanta, Iberostar, and Auberge Resorts Collection, among others. Currently, new hotels will be opening year after year until at least 2025.
New Riviera Nayarit hotels with MICE offerings
All the new projects underway for the Riviera Nayarit are high-end and luxury products, some of them in relatively new areas for tourism development. Several of these new hotels will increase the destination’s offer for group management, events, conventions, and incentive travel.
Opening in August, Secrets® Bahía Mita Surf & Spa Resort and Dreams® Bahía Mita Surf & Spa Resort will offer the Inspiration Meeting Room, a 1,180 m² room with capacity for 1,000 people and adaptable to meet the needs of groups.
The recently opened One & Only Mandarina is set on a pristine beach in Monteon, and features stunning spaces with magnificent views of the surrounding landscape, ideal for incentive groups, weddings, and celebrations.
The resort has two large event spaces: the Papelillo Ballroom with an adjacent patio that can accommodate up to 140 people, and Parota, a meeting room with a large terrace for up to 80 attendees.
The new Conrad Punta de Mita in the Litibu development is also already operational. This resort offers excellent promotions for meeting planners who choose its facilities for meetings, such as complimentary rooms or upgrades for a certain number of rooms booked, discounts, and more.
The resort has nine meeting rooms, a 920 m² ballroom, and 3,827 m² of outdoor beach and garden space. A total of up to 1,120 guests can be grouped in a theater-style meeting.
What is the current state of events in Riviera Nayarit?
Massive indoor events are currently suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The events that have taken place this year are outdoors, mainly water sports competitions and golf tournaments.
The destination has the “Safe Travels” seal from the WTTC and has all the international standard protocols in place. Its hotels are already receiving small groups for private meetings, in the style of the new “safety bubbles.”
It is important to mention that the Riviera Nayarit shares an international airport with Puerto Vallarta, which has been welcoming new domestic and international flights in 2021, a positive sign for tourism reactivation.
