Spotlight On Rui Mota Pinto

Rui Mota was Portugal’s first wedding planner and one of the first in Europe. He is currently president of the Portuguese chapters of IADWP  and IWPA.

Mota is more than an internationally certified and award-winning wedding planner. He is a creator of unique moments, a dreamer who goes beyond conventional limits to express his passion for weddings for the last 30 years.

“I think that the wedding industry needs people to be more unique. Not to keep doing the same things over and over because it is supposed to be correct or expected. We have to go beyond boundaries, create our own identity, and be true to that,” stressed Rui Mota.

Rui currently manages no fewer than five projects: Wedding Creator Rui Mota Pinto, Pop-Up Weddings Destinations, Wedding Lab by Rui Mota Pinto, Tejo Weddings and Trendy Wedding Planners by Rui Mota Pinto.

Globalizing Pop-Up Weddings

One of Rui’s newest and most compelling projects is Pop-Up Weddings Destinations. This type of “express” wedding is popular in places such as Las Vegas, however the pandemic made them take off all around the world.

“I launched the project in 2015, and in the beginning it was something we did locally, for fun, to break the monotony. With the pandemic I saw the opportunity to launch it on an international scale. The idea is to create love experiences Anywhere! Anytime! and Anyhow!,” shared the romance specialist.

The product has a portfolio of 17 destinations and professional wedding services providers who are available to create extraordinary experiences.

A life in service of the romance segment

His passion for life and art—especially Cirque Du Soleil—have led to Rui’s weddings having such a strong showing of artists, entertainers and design elements, all of which really grab your attention.

“Just like life, weddings are a show … we must enjoy them to the fullest. I believe that artists are the soul of the world and without them, nothing has meaning. People want weddings with experiences and fun,” assured Rui Mota.

In addition to dedicating a large part of his time to the romance segment—as a wedding organizer, consultant, speaker and mentor—Rui gives himself to his wife, baby and his French bulldog.

“My objective now is to share knowledge; that’s why I created Wedding Lab. I am focused on giving conferences and to giving back to the industry that has given so much to me,” he stated.
