The first wine tourism contest is launched in Chile

The “Chile Wine Tourism Awards 2022” seek to identify and recognize the best tourist experiences and activities that take place in the valleys with wine tradition in the country.

With a press point headed by the Undersecretary of Tourism, Verónica Kunze, and the president of Corfo’s Wine Tourism Chile, José Miguel Viu, the Chile Wine Tourism Awards 2022 were launched, a national contest that seeks to identify and recognize different offers of wine tourism experiences with a positive impact in the different territories where it is developed and that contributes to the positioning and promotion of the tourist activity linked to wine.

The initiative, which celebrates its first edition this year, will have three categories: Best Emerging Vineyard, Best Wine Tourism Experience and Best Short Story on Wine Tourism and it will be from the second version, scheduled for 2023, when a fourth category is incorporated Best Party of the Harvest.

Through these categories, it is intended to spread the existing festivities more widely, the rescue of the traditions and culture associated with wine, as well as experiences related from the visitors’ own experiences.

The Undersecretary of Tourism, Verónica Kunze, highlighted the awards due to the diffusion they can give to the sector. “Activities like these allow a greater positioning of wine tourism in the country, because what we need is for more people and visitors to be enchanted by an item that provides a very complete tourist experience. The offer has been growing and having more than 160 vineyards open to tourism confirms that Chile is a consolidated country in this area”, she pointed out.

For his part, José Miguel Viu, president of Enoturismo Chile, pointed out that “one of the purposes of Enoturismo Chile is to position and spread this experience among Chileans as one of the must-sees of Chile, appealing to the pride and sense of belonging that the wine represents for the country. We invite you to join these awards, we seek to promote the sector by diversifying and sophisticating the tourist offer, directly impacting the final public who, we are sure, will reward the winning companies with their preferences”.
